Setting the Scene
- Coming off their first victory of the season, the SWOSU Men's Basketball team begins a stretch of three straight non-conference games on Wednesday night against Cameron
- It will be the first meeting between the former Lone Star Conference foes since the Bulldogs left the LSC for the formation of the Great American Conference
- SWOSU won three of the last four meetings against Cameron in the LSC, but the Aggies got a 71-63 victory in the last meeting in February 2011
- This season, the Aggies are off to a good start at 7-2, including three straight wins before suffering an 81-74 overtime defeat their last time out at Tarleton State
- SWOSU enters the contest off their first win of the season, an 80-76 triumph over Southern Arkansas inside Rankin Williams Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon
- The Bulldogs have won their last six home contests against the Aggies, dating back to 2006-11
 
The Opponent
Cameron (7-2)
- The Aggies come to Weatherford with a record of 7-2 on the year, which includes a 1-1 record in true road games and a 4-2 record overall away from home
- Balanced scoring attack for Cameron has four players averaging better than 10 points per game, led by Tyus Momoh with 13.0 and Tyler Williams at 12.2
- Scoring offense for the Aggies is averaging 74.3 points per game while they shoot 40.5% from the field and 36.2% from three-point range
 
The Coaches
SWOSU: Bob Battisti (51-41, 4th season; 460-337 career, 28th season)
- In his fourth season as the head coach of the Bulldogs, having led SWOSU to at least 16 wins in each of his first three years at the helm
- Has coached five players at SWOSU that earned All-GAC distinction, including one GAC Player of the Year (Rod Camphor) and one GAC Defensive Player of the Year (Michael Bradley)
- Previously spent 25 years at Northwestern Oklahoma State, coaching the men's basketball team for 21 seasons before taking over as the school's athletic director
- In 26 years as a head coach, Battisti has a career record of 459-330 (.582) and he is 1-2 at the conference tournament as the head coach at SWOSU
 
Cameron: Andrew Brown (7-2, 1st season; 126-114 career, 9th season)
- Took over as the 12th head men's basketball coach at Cameron on April 1st, 2016 after spending the 2015-16 season as the Aggies top assistant coach
- Previously spent eight years (2007-15) at Northwestern Oklahoma State, where he replaced SWOSU's Bob Battisti as head coach of the Rangers
 
Checking the Standings
- With Great American Conference play on a hiatus until January, Arkansas-Monticello will take the league lead into the holiday break with a perfect 4-0 mark in GAC games
- A log jam of four teams are just one game back of the Weevils with a 3-1 conference mark to date: Harding, Henderson State, Southern Arkansas, Southern Nazarene
- Tied for sixth place with even records of 2-2 through the first four games are Arkansas Tech, East Central and Ouachita
- After picking up their first conference victory, the Bulldogs moved into a share of ninth place in the standings with Oklahoma Baptist

SWOSU Notes
- Markeise Champion scored at least 20 points in both games last week, averaging 20.5 points and 4.0 assists in 32.5 minutes per game coming off the bench
- Devin Pugh remains the Bulldogs leading scorer, averaging 12.6 points per game, but Champion is not far behind with his average up to 12.0 points per game for the year
- Reshardd Harris recorded his second double-double of the season against Southern Arkansas, scoring 21 points with 14 rebounds in 30 minutes of action before fouling out
- Daniel Eibel set a new season-high on Saturday for the third straight game, scoring 13 points in 23 minutes while making his first start of the season
- SWOSU held their last two opponents to a combined 6-of-33 (18.2%) shooting from three-point range after each of their first five opponents made at least six three's against the Dawgs
- The Bulldogs have set a new season high for scoring in each of the last two games, upping their season scoring average to 65.7 points per game
- Bulldog players have dished out 10 or more assists in four of the last five games, but SWOSU remains 12th in the GAC with 10.7 assists per game for the year
- Collin Jennings leads SWOSU with six steals and ranks second with 15 assists
 
Looking Ahead
- On Sunday, SWOSU heads to Goodwell, Okla., to face Panhandle State in their final game until New Year's Eve
- The Bulldogs return from the holiday break to face Randall (formerly Hillsdale Baptist) on December 31st at 3:00 pm
