Volleyball Hosts St. Gregory’s for Final Non-Conference Match

Setting the Scene
- The SWOSU Volleyball team hosts St. Gregory's on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center for the final non-conference match of the season
- The contest also marks the beginning of a five-game home stand for the Bulldogs, who have won four of their last five matches, including three straight at home
- SWOSU is 7-0 all-time against St. Gregory's, with the most recent meeting coming in 2014
 
The Opponent
St. Gregory's (19-10)
- Cavaliers have won 12 of their last 14 matches, including a program-record 11 consecutive wins that spanned from September 17 – October 15
- SGU is led by Ashlyn Broussard, who averages 3.41 kills per set while hitting .162 and Courtney Murphy, who leads the team with 138 blocks (42 solo, 96 assist) on the year
 
The Coaches
SWOSU: Josh Collins (65-86, 5th season)
- Led the Bulldogs to the best season in program history in 2015, winning 22 games and the GAC Tournament Championship
- Has coached nine All-GAC selections, one GAC Freshman of the Year and one AVCA All-Central Region selection in four seasons
- His teams have earned two AVCA Team Academic Awards and one GAC Sportsmanship Award
- Added the duties of Director of Gameday Operations at SWOSU in the fall of 2014.
 
St. Gregory's: Allison Roberts (26-28, 2nd season)
- In just her second season at St. Gregory's, Roberts has led the Cavs to their best season in program history with 19 wins so far this year
- Before going to SGU, Roberts spent two seasons as a grad assistant at SWOSU (2013-14) under coach Josh Collins following a four-year playing career at Presbyterian College
 
Checking the Standings
- After a busy weekend of conference matches, three teams – Harding, Ouachita, Oklahoma Baptist – are tied atop the GAC standings at 8-3 while three more – Arkansas Tech, Henderson State, Southern Nazarene – are one game behind at tied for fourth at 7-4
- SWOSU is just one game out of fourth and currently tied for seventh in the league standings with Arkansas-Monticello at 6-5
 
SWOSU Notes
- Blair Dressendorfer had a combined nine service aces on the Bulldogs road trip last weekend, giving her the conference lead in aces per set (0.50)
- Carly Zak has put down 389 kills this season, leaving her 11 shy of her second consecutive 400-kill season and she remains the GAC leader with 4.32 kills per set
- Kayla Hebert has had 30 or more assists in five straight matches, including three games with 50 or more assists, giving her an average of 8.63 assists per set for the year to rank seventh in the GAC
- Kaitlyn Dillon has broken SWOSU's freshman record for single-season digs (343) and she's ranked seventh in the GAC for digs in conference matches with 4.71 per set
 
Looking Ahead
- SWOSU has the rest of the week off following their match with SGU on Tuesday and they return to action next Tuesday when they face Oklahoma Baptist
- The Bulldogs next four games are at home before they head to Alva for the regular season finale at Northwestern Oklahoma State on November 10th
