FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU faced Division I opponent Arkansas on Thursday night inside the Bud Walton Arena, falling 103-58 to open up the exhibition season.
Colin Jennings led the Dawgs with 11 points on 2-4 shooting, knocking down a pair of treys to go along with 5-6 shooting from the charity stripe. He also pulled three off the glass.
The Bulldogs briefly held a 3-1 lead off a shot from beyond the arc by
Martell Collins, but found themselves trailing 16-11 midway through the first half following a Jennings 3-pointer. The Razorbacks went on a 13-4 run soon after Jennings' basket before ending the half up 53-28.
SWOSU cut the deficit to 23 points following a layup by
Emeche Wells, but Arkansas put the game away with a 19-4 run. Jennings knocked down two free throws with 46 seconds remaining in the game to end the scoring for both teams, and the game ended at 103-58 in favor of the hosts.
Jennings did most of the damage for SWOSU, but redshirt freshman
Nick Shoemaker drained two from long range to finish with eight points and one defensive rebound.
Keyshawn Perkins was strong on the glass, pulling down a team-high 10 boards while pouring in five points and dishing out two assists.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they take on Oklahoma City University in OKC at 2 p.m. in the Dawgs' final exhibition game of the season.
