Conference Matches Highlight Three Game Home Stand for Soccer

SWOSU Weekly Notes
Setting the Scene
- SWOSU plays in their final non-conference game for two weeks when they host West Texas A&M on Tuesday at 3 PM. It is also the beginning of a three game home stand.
- Thursday marks the opening of conference play for the Bulldogs when they host Southern Nazarene at 4 PM. Conference play continues Saturday at 1 PM when they host East Central.
- SWOSU Res Life will have hotdogs and refreshments before the game, and there will be a chance to win a 32" flat screen TV.

Last Time Out
- SWOSU travelled to Shawnee to face Oklahoma Baptist. The Bulldogs fell late in a double overtime thriller 2-1. 
- Cori Kelly opened her account for the Bulldogs in the first half. The Bulldogs led 1-0 until the 71st minute. It was just the second time this season that SWOSU held a lead.
- Ailee Thompson and Mikayla Lowery scored the goals for OBU. Lowery's stood as the winner.

Fast Facts
- Kelly has been SWOSU's most active shooter. She has 11 shots, with eight on frame, good for a .727 shots on goal percentage. She is also the Bulldogs' point leader with 3 (1g, 1a) on the season. 
- Through five games, Courtney Flores leads all Great American Conference keepers in saves with 33. Her 6.6 saves per game is the third best mark in the conference.
- Olivia Butler, Shelley Mueller and Kelly are all tied for a GAC 8th-best in goals for the season with one a piece.
- Despite being outshot by opponents 106-43, the Bulldogs are displaying better accuracy. Their shots on goal percentage is .605 compared to the opponents' .406. Additionally, SWOSU's shooting percentage, the amount of goals scored per shots on goal, is .070, not far behind the opponents' .094.
- Payton Warren has currently put five of her nine shots on goal, the second highest totals for both on the team. She will look to finally open her account next week.

The Coaches
Mark Persson
- This is Persson's 6th season in charge of the SWOSU soccer program.
- Since taking over the program in 2009, Persson has amassed a 53-39-9 record, 
good enough to become the all-time winningest coach in program history. 
- A two time All-Conference Coach of the Year, Persson holds an impressive 16-
1-2 in Great American Conference play. 
- He has coached six National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region players, and numerous All-Conference players.

Brad Webb
- Webb enters his 5th season as head coach of the West Texas A&M women's soccer program. He is the second head coach in program history.
- He currently holds a 37-35-11 record with the Lady Buffs. He won both the regular season and tournament championship in the Lone Star Conference in 2012, when West Texas A&M also qualified for the NCAA II national tournament.
- Webb is 2-0-1 against Persson.

Julie Duncan
- Duncan enters her 6th season at the helm of the Crimson Storm women's soccer program. 
- She has earned a 39-55-3 record while at Southern Nazarene. While under her direction, SNU has qualified for three Sooner Athletic Conference tournaments and finished as the National Christian College Athletic Association runner-up in 2012.
- Duncan is 2-5-0 against Persson.

Riley Bailey
- Baily enters his 6th season in charge of the East Central's women's soccer program. 
- Under his coaching, the Lady Tigers have earned a 33-52-10 record. Bailey also led his team to the Great American Conference regular season and conference tournament titles in  2011.
- He is 2-5-1 against Persson.

The Opponents
West Texas A&M
- The Lady Buffs are currently 2-4-0 on the season. They have won their last two of their last three games, most recently a 1-0 loss to Dallas Baptist. They have yet to register a win on the road this season.
- Emily Krenek leads the team in scoring with three goals, one of which was a game-winning goal. Karyn Forbes is the main creator with three of the team's four assists being provided by her.

Southern Nazarene
- The Crimson Storm are currently riding a three game losing skid, they sit 2-3 on the season. They lost their last two games on the road Mary (N.D.) and Eastern New Mexico by a combined score of 5-1. They 1-3-0 on the road.
- Mallary Pineda and Alyssa Glitzke are joint leading scorers with two goals each. Bekah Stewart has assisted on 60 percent of SNU's goals. Pineda leads the team in points with five.

East Central
- The Lady Tigers are 3-3-1 on the season. In their last three outings, they drew Missouri Southern State 3-3, lost 2-1 to Northeastern State and won 4-2 over Lubbock Christian. They are currently 0-1-1 away from home on the season.
- Kaitie Herrin and Milan Galloway are tied at the top of the scoring charts for ECU at two goals a piece. Kristian Gonzalez-Claborn leads the team in assists with 2.
