Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okla. – It was a vintage performance by the Lady Bulldogs, running out 107-69 winners against the Drovers from the University of Science and Arts inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center on Tuesday night.
Korina Chapman led the charge with 20 points and 11 rebounds. She was dialed in from the beginning, knocking down five of her first six shots from beyond the arc to finish 6-7 from the 3-point line and 7-10 overall from the field. She also chipped in with one assist, two blocks and two steals in 30 minutes of action.
USAO made the first basket of the game, and it would prove to be their only lead of the game. The Lady Dawgs used a 9-0 run over three minutes to take a 17-7 lead. They would close out the half with a 22 point lead, going into the locker rooms up 55-33.
SWOSU opened up the second half in much the same fashion, scoring the first nine points of the half. They would cruise from there expanding their lead to as many as 40 points before finishing with a 38 point margin of victory in their highest offensive output of the season.
The Lady Dawgs dominated in all facets of the game. Led by
Jessica Penner's 12 points, SWOSU dominated in the paint, outscoring the Drovers 48-28.They took good care of the ball, committing 11 turnovers to tie their season low, while forcing USAO into 11 turnovers which were turned into 14 points.
SWOSU shot the ball well, going 48.2 percent from the field and a season-best 51.9 percent from deep. They also received help off the bench, with
Kimmi Sawatzky,
Brooke Irwin and
Nina Gregory each finishing with eight points as SWOSU's bench outscored USAO's 42-26.
"I believe in these girls and I know they are able to shoot it. I'm glad they were able to get some confidence tonight," said Head Coach
Kelsi Musick. "We took a break and now we're ready to get back into the conference schedule."
SWOSU will return to Great American Conference action on Saturday, January 3 against Southeastern Oklahoma State at 5:30 PM in Durant, Okla.
