WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU scored 51 points in the second half of their exhibition opener, turning a one-point halftime lead into a 93-73 victory over Mid-America Christian on Tuesday evening at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
Kenyan Borders led the way for SWOSU with 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting along with a game-high seven assists. He was one of five Bulldogs to reach double figures in scoring, joined by
Mark Braden (14),
Martell Collins (12),
Trent Washington (12) and
Ayo Ojo (11).
Richard McCalop added nine points and seven rebounds off the bench while
Emeche Wells filled his stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.
"This was a good opener because we played a lot of people and our guys stayed together, which is probable what impressed me the most," Head Coach
Bob Battisti said following the victory. "Having a senior point guard in Kenyan was a key for us because I feel like he really settled us in and did a great job of playing within himself."
SWOSU returns to action this Saturday with a 4:00 pm tipoff against the University of Tulsa, the second of three exhibition games.
