Lancaster Eclipses Career Dig Mark in Setback against Cameron

Box Score (html)

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – After commanding the first set for a 25-17 victory, the SWOSU Volleyball team was in position to earn a non-conference victory over Cameron before the Aggies came storming back and won the next three sets to take the match 3-1 (25-17, 18-25, 8-25, 18-25).

Kaila Lancaster registered a record-setting performance as she became the all-time leader in career digs at SWOSU by finishing with a career-high 31 digs. Just a junior, Lancaster now has 1,209 digs to her credit, surpassing the previous career mark of 1,196 held by Janna Green (2005-07).

Reigning GAC Offensive Player of the Week Joey Collins led the Bulldogs with 14 kills while hitting .244 for the match. SWOSU was short-handed for the final three sets after leading offensive threat Carly Zak left the match with an injury. Zak had four kills and hit .333 in the first set before coming off the court. Shayne Haley and Brandy Mader each had four kills while the middle duo of Kiley Brennfoerder and Taylor VanderWerff both had five.

The advantage at the net remained in favor of the Bulldogs, who out-blocked Cameron 13-5 behind seen blocks apiece from Mader and Brennfoerder. The 13 team blocks ties the sixth-most in a four-set match in school history. VanderWerff also had five blocks, Haley had three and DeLayni Fine recorded two in the final two sets.

SWOSU falls to 8-14 with the loss and they now hit the road this weekend to take on Harding on Saturday at 11:00 am.
