Kait Bagwell, a member of the SWOSU Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026, is in her sixth season as an Assistant Coach for the SWOSU Volleyball program following a decorated four-year playing career as the Bulldogs' starting libero. In addition to her coaching duties, Bagwell serves as SWOSU Athletics' Compliance Coordinator, a full-time role she has held since August 2021. She added the title of Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) in 2025 and also oversees the department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
During Bagwell's six seasons on the volleyball staff, 19 Bulldogs have earned All-Great American Conference honors, including five GAC superlative award winners. SWOSU has averaged 18.5 wins during her tenure while enjoying one of the most successful stretches in program history.
In 2024, Bagwell helped the Bulldogs capture their first GAC regular-season championship in a historic season that featured Offensive Player of the Year Lacy Mott and Defensive Player of the Year Samantha Kuzma. Mott also became the first AVCA All-American in program history. SWOSU followed with another postseason run in 2025, winning nine of its final 11 matches and advancing to the GAC Championship match for the second time in program history.
As a player, Bagwell (formerly Dillon) put together an illustrious four-year career that ultimately earned her induction into the SWOSU Athletic Hall of Fame. She graduated as SWOSU's all-time leader in digs (2,347) and service aces (118), was twice named GAC Defensive Player of the Year and earned three All-GAC selections. Bagwell also earned All-Central Region honors and was named GAC Defensive Player of the Week seven times during her career. In 2020, she was named to the GAC All-Decade Team.
Bagwell's success extended to the classroom, where she was named SWOSU Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year following the 2019-20 academic year. She was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, GAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and three-time GAC All-Academic Team selection. As a senior, she represented the GAC at the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum.
A native of Edmond, Oklahoma, Bagwell graduated with honors from SWOSU in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing and completed her master's degree in Sports Management in 2022. She married her husband, James, in the summer of 2024, and the couple resides in Weatherford.
