Kait Bagwell is in her fifth season as an Assistant Coach for the SWOSU volleyball team following a decorated four-year playing career as the Bulldogs starting libero. She added the additional duties of Compliance Assistant for the SWOSU Athletic Department in August 2021.
Bagwell started her coaching career in 2020 and most recently helped the Bulldogs to a 19-9 record during the 2023 season. SWOSU finished with a winning record for the sixth consecutive season and advanced to the semifinals of the Great American Conference Tournament.
As a player, Bagwell (formerly Dillon) put together an illustrious four-year career in which she graduated as SWOSU's all-time leader in digs (2,347) and service aces (118). For her efforts, she was twice named the GAC Defensive Player of the Year (2018-19) and she was a three-time All-GAC selection. Additionally, Bagwell was an All-Central Region selection as a junior and a seven-time GAC Defensive Player of the Week during her career. In 2020, she was one of two SWOSU Volleyball alums named to the GAC's All-Decade Team after graduating as one of four players in conference history with more than 2,000 career digs.
Her success was continued in the classroom, where she was named SWOSU's Female Scholar Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the 2019-20. Prior to that, she was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2018 and a GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete in 2019 in addition to earning three GAC All-Academic Team nods. Bagwell was a member of SWOSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during her collegiate career and as a senior she was chosen to represent the GAC at the NCAA's Student-Athlete Leadership Forum.
A native of Edmond, Okla., Bagwell graduated in 2020 (with honors) with a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing and completed her master's degree in 2022 in Sports Management.
She is married to her husband James as of the summer of 2024 and the two reside in Weatherford.
