Jon Chidester became SWOSU's Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations on November 1, 2021.
Chidester has now totaled eight years at the university between his time as a student-athlete, graduate assistant, and full-time employee. He returns to SWOSU in a full-time capacity after working nearly four years at Paycom where he was eventually promoted to a team lead in the benefit implementation department.
In the Assistant AD role, Chidester serves as the primary media contact for all 13 of the university's intercollegiate athletic programs while managing the athletic website and all social medias. It's a role he's familiar with, having spent 2016-18 as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant under predecessor Doug Self.
Chidester is a dual degree holder from SWOSU. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management in 2016 before obtaining a master's degree in sports management in 2018. He is also a former starting pitcher for the Bulldog baseball team and a member of the 2016 Great American Conference Championship team. Chidester was a 2016 all-region selection, a two-time first team all-conference selection, and five-time GAC Pitcher of the Week.
He is married to his wife Courtney, a former SWOSU Softball alum. The two have a son, Callaway, and a daughter, Quinn.
