Brad Fleetwood has taken the SWOSU Golf programs to new heights since arriving in January 2013 and he enters his 14th season leading the Men's and Women's Golf programs in 2025-26, two years removed from being named the NCAA Central Region Women's Coach of the Year by the WGCA in 2024.Â
In 13 years, Fleetwood’s programs have missed NCAA Regional Tournament appearances only three times combined, while making five National Championship appearances. The highlight came in 2019, when the women’s team captured the NCAA Central Region title and advanced to the national semifinals in match play—a historic run for the program.  Â
That spring of 2019 became the banner year for SWOSU Women's Golf as Fleetwood's team won the first NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship in program history and advanced to the National Championships. At nationals, SWOSU's Gloria Choi finished as the national runner-up individually and led the Lady Bulldogs into Match Play with a fourth-place finish during Stroke Play. In the Match Play portion, SWOSU defeated top-ranked Barry in the opening round before falling to eventual national champion Florida Tech in the national semifinals.
Fleetwood added 'Women's Coach of the Year' to his resume for both the Great American Conference and NCAA Central Region after yet another successful campaign following the 2023-24 season. The Lady Bulldogs, who were ranked in the top-25 throughout nearly the entirety of the season, finished as the Central Reigon Tournament Runner-Up in 2024 and qualified for nationals for a third time where they went on to finish 14th overall in the country.
Most recently, in the 2024-25 season, Fleetwood’s Lady Bulldogs produced two standout postseason performances. Freya Sala became just the second SWOSU women’s golfer to capture the individual title at the GAC Tournament, while Drew Dodgion qualified for the National Tournament as only the second individual in program history to do so. Dodgion went on to finish tied for 13th, highlighted by a 6-under 66—the lowest round ever recorded by a SWOSU women’s golfer in NCAA postseason play, regional or national—and a new conference record for lowest round score at the championship.
Since arriving in Weatherford, Fleetwood has twice been named GAC Coach of the Year—once with the men’s program (2016) and once with the women’s (2024). He has coached 67 All-GAC selections, 57 All-American Scholars, 23 All-Region honorees, three GAC Freshmen of the Year, three GAC Players of the Year, four All-Americans (including Freya Sala in 2024), and four SWOSU Athletes of the Year.
Fleetwood came to SWOSU with NCAA Division I experience after serving as an assistant coach at Jacksonville State University from 2008-2012. During his tenure at Jacksonville State, he helped the Gamecocks to a combined four Ohio Valley Conference championships and coached two OVC Players of the Year and five Freshmen of the Year. The Gamecocks also advanced to five NCAA Division I Regionals with Fleetwood on staff and he was twice nominated for the GCAA Jan Strickland Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
Prior to his stint at JSU, Fleetwood served as the graduate assistant coach and assistant coach at his alma mater Northeastern Oklahoma State University from 2004-2008. The Riverhawks secured seven NCAA Regional bids including two national championship appearances.
Fleetwood is a native of Duncan, Okla., and a 2000 graduate from Duncan High School and he has one daughter, Ally Catherine. He holds two degrees from Northeastern State, earning his bachelors of Business Administration in 2005 and a master’s in Health and Kinesiology in 2007.
