Cheyene Powell has joined the Bulldog Softball coaching staff for the 2019 season.

Powell comes to SWOSU after recently graduating from Texas Tech, where she played her final three years as a pitcher for the Red Raiders. In her senior season at TTU, she helped her team a record of 31-28 and their first postseason berth since 2012 while also contributing as the Red Raiders made back-to-back Big 12 Tournament appearances. Powell began her college career at Oregon, where she was a member of a team that won the Pac-12 Championship and reached the Women's College World Series in 2015.

As a prep, Powell played at Blanchard HS and for the Texas Firecrackers, one of the top club teams in the nation, where she was coached by former Texas A&M All-American pitcher Amanda Scarborough.

A native of Blanchard, Okla., Powell earned her bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech in 2018 and she is now pursuing a master's degree in Social Science and Criminal Justice from SWOSU.
