Beau Burnett enters his second year as an assistant coach at SWOSU in 2016. He will be assisting his wife, head coach Barbara Burnett, who was hired as the third head softball coach in SWOSU history on May 22, 2014.
Burnett spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Independence Community College in Kansas, helping the Lady Pirates complete an incredible tournament that concluded with back-to-back regional runner-up finishes and 30-plus win seasons, the first in school history.
Prior to coaching collegiately, Burnett spent nine years coaching at teaching at the high school level in Texas. He had stints coaching baseball, softball, basketball and football with two years of head softball coaching experience at Channelview ISD, where he led the program to the playoffs in 2011.
Burnett was a defensive back on the SWOSU football team from 1997-2001, playing for legendary coach Paul Sharp. The Levelland, Texas native earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from SWOSU in 2002 and he is now pursuing his master’s degree from the school.
