Hank Campbell is the newest member of the SWOSU Football coaching staff, joining the Bulldogs as the Defensive Backs coach for the 2017 season.
Campbell joins the Bulldogs with 18 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and high school levels, including the last three years coaching in the state of Oklahoma. For the past two seasons, Campbell has served as the Defensive Coordinator at Bacone College after spending the 2014 season coaching linebackers at Langston University.
Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Campbell had a long, successful tenure as a high school coach in South Carolina, where he held a variety of positions from 2002-13, including one season as a head coach at Charleston Collegiate High School. He also has six seasons of experience as a defensive coordinator along with one year of offensive coordinator to his credit.
Campbell got his start in coaching at East Tennessee State, where he coached defensive ends for the Bucs for two seasons in 1997-98.
As a player, Campbell was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at linebacker for the South Carolina Gamecocks from 1991-95. In his time with the Gamecocks, Campbell played in one bowl game and he served as a team captain during his senior season.
A native of James Island, S.C., Campbell earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina in 1995.
