Kellen Mitts is in his third season as a member of the SWOSU Baseball Coaching staff in 2021 and he continues to serve as the Bulldogs’ pitching coach.
Mitts comes to SWOSU from Colorado School of Mines, where he served as pitching coach for the Orediggers from 2012-17. At Mines, Mitts helped in leading the Orediggers to their first winning season since 1999 and coached several players who earned individual honors, including one National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-American and two Rawlings/ABCA Division II Gold Glove recipients.
Prior to his arrival at Mines, Mitts served as an assistant coach at Butler Community College in 2011 following one year as an assistant at Emporia State in 2010. His playing career started at Coffeyville Community College and continued at Emporia State, where he graduated in 2009.
A native of Skiatook, Okla., Mitts holds a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies from Emporia State and is completing work on a master’s in Sports Management from SWOSU. He and his wife, Christina, reside in Weatherford.
