TOPEKA, Kan. – SWOSU Volleyball closed out its weekend at the Ichabod Classic on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to No. 4-ranked Washburn.
The Bulldogs fell by set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-22 and move to 7-5 on the season.
Washburn controlled the opening two sets before SWOSU put together its best push of the match in the third. The Bulldogs trailed 18-13 before scoring seven of the next 10 points to pull within one at 21-20. SWOSU later battled back to even the set at 22-22, but the Ichabods scored the final three points to finish the sweep.
Jenna Houk led the Bulldog attack with 11 kills and added 12 digs for a double-double. Morgan Ritchie finished with six kills while hitting .313, and Sydnee Winfrey added seven kills and four blocks. Mackenzie Sims totaled 26 assists, nine digs and three blocks, while Jada Permenter matched Houk with a team-high 12 digs.
SWOSU returns home Tuesday, September 15 to host Oklahoma Baptist in its GAC home opener. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside the Pioneer Event Center.
