SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball could not secure a series victory on Saturday, falling to Oklahoma Baptist in both ends of the GAC doubleheader.
The Dawgs, now 11-9 overall and 3-6 in GAC play, will look to collect their first conference series victory next weekend when they host Southern Nazarene.
Game One (7 inn.)
OBU 27, SWOSU 14
Despite jumping out to a 9-1 lead after an inning and a half, SWOSU saw the Bison erupt for a 10-run second inning en route to five straight bottom halves where the home team plated multiple runs, including a six-run fourth and a five-run sixth.
Nolan McCrossin and
Kotaro Wakui both homered in the early going. McCrossin, a grand slam in the first inning and Wakui a two-run shot in the second.
Starter
Will David could not escape the nightmare second inning. The Bison racked up six hits and were aided by another four free passes to chase David early. They then feasted on the Bulldog bullpen the rest of the way, finishing with 24 hits in the shortened seven inning run-rule.
Landon Meyer ended the game a perfect 4-4 at the plate.
Kellen Frizzell went 3-4. Both doubled once.
Game Two
OBU 15, SWOSU 3
SWOSU stranded 13 on base in the finale and again fell victim to big Bison innings. OBU scored seven in the second to grab control of the game and added another six unanswered across the fifth and sixth to issue the thumping in the finale. The home team scored runs in every inning but one.
The bats had just five hits in the game, four singles and an RBI double from
Landon Meyer who drove in the first run of the game in the top of the first to give SWOSU its brief lead.
John Spoto went 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Jared Adams,
Kaegan Baker, and
Sebastian Diaz all threw. Adams started and pitched 2.0 innings, walking and striking out six.
