SWOSU Makes Quick Work of Southeastern in Durant

DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball made quick work of Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday night, sweeping the Savage Storm 3-0 to claim its second conference win of the season.

The Bulldogs trailed only once in the entire match—a brief 1-0 deficit in the third set—and otherwise controlled play wire-to-wire. Their 46 kills marked a season high in a three-set match.

SWOSU came out firing in the opener, racing to a 7-2 lead and extending the margin to as many as 17 points before closing out a dominant 25-10 set. The 10 points allowed tied the fewest scored against the Bulldogs in a set this season (also against ECU).

The momentum carried into set two, where the Dawgs built a 6-0 cushion before Southeastern responded with a 5-0 run of its own to narrow the gap to 17-14. Following a timeout from Head Coach Josh Collins, SWOSU regrouped and closed on a 5-0 run to take the set 25-18 and a 2-0 match lead.

The third set proved more competitive, with neither team leading by more than five points. The Savage Storm committed four service errors in key moments with the score within one, keeping the door open for the Dawgs. After ties at 18 and 21, SWOSU rattled off three quick points to earn match point and finished the sweep, 25-23.

Statistically, SWOSU outhit Southeastern .231 to .070, with 46 kills compared to the Storm's 25. The Bulldogs also held a 3-1 edge in service aces, while both teams committed five errors. At the net, SWOSU tallied just three blocks—their lowest in any match this season—despite entering the night as the national leader in blocks per set.

Individually, Paris Patterson and Hailey Smith each finished with a match-high 12 kills on efficient hitting. Jenna Houk nearly posted a double-double with nine kills and 16 digs, while Katja Blanchat contributed six error-free kills and two blocks.

The Bulldogs now return home to host Northwestern inside the Pioneer Event Center on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
