Volleyball Closes Chap Classic with 3-1 Loss to Fort Lewis

LUBBOCK, Texas – SWOSU Volleyball dropped its final match of the MCM Elegante Chap Classic on Saturday, falling 3-1 to Fort Lewis College.

Paris Patterson paced the Bulldogs with 13 kills (.160), while Sydnee Winfrey turned in an efficient 11 kills on .474 hitting. Cameron Turner and Mackenzie Sims combined for 40 assists to guide the offense.

Fort Lewis set the tone with a 25-15 win in the opening frame, SWOSU's largest first-set margin of defeat this season. The Bulldogs answered in the second, producing 19 kills on .359 hitting to grind out a 25-23 victory and even the match.

Momentum shifted back to the Skyhawks in the third, where SWOSU was held to .042 hitting while FLC hit .255 and tallied nine more kills. The fourth set followed a similar pattern as Fort Lewis closed out the match behind a .325 attack percentage while limiting SWOSU to .065.

After posting 33 total blocks across their previous two matches, the Bulldogs managed just four at the net on Saturday. The Skyhawks hit .286 as a team—matching the highest percentage allowed by SWOSU this season—while the Dawgs were limited to .160 overall and committed 10 more attack errors (23-13). In both the third and fourth sets, SWOSU failed to reach double-digit kills.

Fort Lewis (6-1) completed an undefeated run at the tournament. SWOSU falls to 2-6, marking the second straight weekend the Bulldogs won their opener before dropping the remaining matches.

The Dawgs return to action Thursday in Edmond for the GAC/MIAA Crossover, opening against host Central Oklahoma at 11 a.m. before taking on Emporia State and Fort Hays State across the two-day event.
