LUBBOCK, Texas - SWOSU Volleyball secured their first sweep of the season with a straight-sets victory over Eastern New Mexico in the opening game of the LCU Chap Classic.
The Bulldogs dominated on both sides of the net, never hitting below .230 while holding the Greyhounds under .100 in every set—including a frame where ENMU finished at –.070 with eight kills and 11 errors.
In the opening set, SWOSU set the tone early. Leading 12-9, the Dawgs closed on a 13-3 run to take the set in convincing fashion. The second set followed a similar script, as a quick 6-0 burst stretched a 9-6 lead into an insurmountable advantage. The third set was briefly tied at 5-5 before another decisive run, this time 12-1, sealed the match for the Bulldogs.
Sydnee Winfrey led the way with 12 kills on a .450 hitting percentage while also posting a team-high four blocks.
Paris Patterson added 10 kills on an efficient .588 percentage with at least five attempts, and
Jada Permenter anchored the defense with 16 digs to go along with two service aces.
SWOSU (2-3) will return to action tomorrow with two matches—first against host Lubbock Christian at 11:30 a.m., followed by Colorado State-Pueblo at 7:00 p.m.
