Bulldogs Walk Off Storm in Finale

WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Softball got a walk-off hit off the bat of Jadyn Hook in Monday's series finale against Southeastern, helping to avoid a sweep and salvage the series against the Savage Storm.

SWOSU fell to the Storm 12-3 on Sunday in game one and 6-3 in Monday's first game. They answered with a 4-3 victory in the final game of the series to earn a split of Monday's action.

The Bulldogs will be on the road next week to face Ouachita Baptist, before returning home for Senior Weekend against Henderson State on April 18-19. 11 conference games remain in the 2025 season, that is set to conclude on April 26. The Bulldogs find themselves two games out of the postseason threshold with plenty of softball to play.

Game One (5 inn.)
Southeastern 12, SWOSU 3

Four straight scoring innings by Southeastern from the second through the final fifth gave them a run-rule victory in the opener. Sandwiched between a pair of two-run frames were four runs in both the second and fifth.

The Storm racked up 15 hits, compared to SWOSU's four and handed Alexis Taylor (8-8) the loss in the circle.

Riley Lusk (1-2) doubled in the game. Skyla McPhillips (1-1) tripled and walked.

Game Two
Southeastern 6, SWOSU 3

Southeastern again posted 15 hits in the game, but SWOSU's Jaycee McKee did a good job limiting damage in her six-inning outing.

The Bulldogs used a two-run third inning to tie the game up at 3-3 before the Storm eventually plated three runs in the sixth to win it.

Katie Boline had an RBI single in the first inning which cut into a 2-0 deficit. Trailing 3-1 in the third, a costly error by Southeastern's shortstop allowed two runs to cross including the tying run. Riley Lusk singled followed by a Boline double with one out, and both scored on the ensuing error.

The 3-3 score remained until the sixth when three straight singles had the Storm back on top. A two-out single later in the inning added two more runs for insurance.

SWOSU stranded 11 runners on the base paths in the game, though Southeastern left 10 of their own. Boline (3-4) and Jadyn Hook (3-4) both had three hits in the game.

Kaylee Barkley threw a scoreless seventh inning in relief.

Game Three
SWOSU 4, Southeastern 3

The Bulldogs got in the win column in the series finale in walk-off fashion, courtesy of Jadyn Hook who delivered the game winner in the bottom of the seventh. It came two batters after Chesnie Hewitt put the Dawgs in the driver's seat by leading off the inning off with a triple off the wall.

SWOSU was forced to win it in the seventh after Southeastern plated the tying run a half inning prior. Barkley, on in relief again, stranded two runners in scoring position and tagged the would-be go-ahead run out at home on a wild pitch that went to the backstop.

The Dawgs led 3-0 after scoring one run in the fourth inning and another two in the fifth. A wild pitch gave SWOSU their first run. An RBI single from Hook and an RBI triple from Riley Lusk pushed the lead out an inning later. Southeastern answered with two of their own in the sixth and the tying run in the seventh.

Hook (3-4) had another three-hit game and added two RBI and a run scored.

Alexis Taylor threw 5.2 innings to start the game but was handed the no decision. She struck out six, walked just one, and scattered six hits. Barkley (W, 2-2) could not earn the save but picked up the win in relief in 1.1 innings of work.
