WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Baseball split Friday's twin bill with Ouachita Baptist, defeating the Tigers 6-5 in the series opener before falling 16-6 in game two.
The rubber match will come at 1:00 pm in Weatherford tomorrow (Saturday) to decide the series. 19 seniors will be honored prior to the game in the final home game of the 2025 season.
Game One
SWOSU 6, OUA 5
Markus Coronado broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning with an RBI double and the Bulldogs eventually plated three more runs in the seventh, which they'd need as they fought off a late comeback attempt from Ouachita that fell just short.
With SWOSU leading 6-2, the Tigers got two runs back in the eighth and had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth before a strike 'em out, throw 'em out – pick off style – ended the game.
Eric Foufoulas back picked a Ouachita runner on first base after
Jackson Blue simultaneously struck out a Tiger for the second out, which ended the threat and the game.
Coronado also doubled in SWOSU's first two runs in the second inning, which came in response to Ouachita's first run of the game in the top of the second. He finished 2-for-4 on the day with three RBIs.
The three Bulldog runs in the seventh came courtesy of RBI singles from
Ty Eastwood and
Campbell Sullivan. Sullivan finished with two hits in the game.
Josh Doelitsch pitched into the fifth inning before giving way to the bullpen.
Tyler Fortin provided 3.1 innings of mid-game relief and earned his first win. Blue picked up his fourth save of the year, collecting the final five outs with four strikeouts.
SWOSU was outhit 15-10 in the game.
Game Two
OUA 16, SWOSU 6
The Tigers kept their bats hot in game two, jumping out to an early lead in the first inning before opening up an 11-1 lead by the end of three. A seven-run third inning broke the game open, proving to be too large of a deficit for the Dawgs to overcome.
The Tigers scored in six of their seven at-bats and finished with 14 hits to SWOSU's seven.
Connor Jeffers had two of those hits, including a triple in the seventh inning.
Drew Fifer suffered the loss in 2.0 innings of work.
