WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Baseball handled Southeastern Oklahoma State 7-1 in Tuesday's midweek matchup, moving to 3-0 on the year in midweek games.
The Bulldogs (17-11) got a combined effort from lefties Justin Schrader and Philip Sanders on the mound and used 10 hits to plate seven runs on the afternoon that included a two-run home run from Markus Coronado in the second inning.
Schrader, building off his previous outing against Oklahoma Baptist last week, threw four innings of scoreless baseball in his first start of the season. He struck out four, walked two, and scattered two hits. Sanders entered for Schrader in a fresh fifth, and after a quick triple and sacrifice fly to start his first inning, proceeded to keep Southeastern off the board from then to the end of the game in a five-frame long relief appearance.
SWOSU's offense built a 3-0 lead for Schrader by the third inning. Ty Eastwood singled in a run in the first, followed by Coronado's blast an inning later. In response to Southeastern's run in the top half of the fifth, the Dawgs produced a three-run bottom half to help settle Phillips in after Bodi Wallar cleared the bases with a two out, three RBI single.
Reece Burke singled in the final run of the game in the eighth inning for good measure.
Coronado finished 3-for-4 to lead the lineup. He also scored twice. Wallar and Eastwood both had two hits apiece.
With another midweek in the books, SWOSU will now turn its attention back to conference play with East Central coming to town over the weekend. The current schedule has game one on Friday at 2:00 pm with the doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
