ADA, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball took care of East Central on Tuesday afternoon, run-ruling the Tigers 19-6 in the first midweek game of the year.
The Bulldogs (13-7) were supposed to play back-to-back non-conference games this week with a scheduled home game against Cameron on Wednesday, but that game has been postponed with a new date TBA. SWOSU will now look forward to hosting Arkansas-Monticello in continued conference play this weekend.
The Dawgs had seven extra-base hits – three doubles, one triple, and three home runs – and took advantage of 15 walks issued by ECU pitchers to plate their most runs scored in a game so far this season. They ended up outhitting the Tigers 11-7.
A trio of hitters had solid days at the plate, led by Bodi Wallar who was 3-5 with a team high five RBI. Wallar hit a grand slam in the second inning, doubled in the fifth and scored three times. Kade Folmar, making his second start of the year, tripled and homered in the same inning and finished with four RBI of his own. Campbell Sullivan doubled and went yard.
SWOSU put up three large, crooked numbers in the game: a five-run second, a seven-run third, and a five-run fifth. They sprinkled in single runs in the first and seventh innings, leaving just two frames in the contest they didn't score a run.
Tyler Leachner (W, 3-0) picked up the win in relief. He came in for Garrett Coiner in the second inning and threw into the sixth. Zane Leonard got the final five outs of the game.
