WEATHERFORD – The Lady Bulldogs dropped their final regular season game on Saturday to the GAC's regular season champions, 63-54, and will now shift their focus to postseason play set to begin next week. 

SWOSU finishes the regular season 16-12 and 12-10 inside the GAC. The Lady Bulldogs had a three-game win streak snapped but are still winners of six of their final eight games of the regular season. 

A slow opening quarter saw SWOSU fall behind 18-9 after the first ten minutes. The Dawgs shot just 4-18 in the frame and were outrebounded 14-8. They used the free-throw line to get back into the game before half, knocking down 6-7 in the second quarter and getting within five points at 30-25 as the half came to an end.

SWOSU fought back to earn a lead at 36-35 with four minutes to go in the third quarter after an Averi Zinn layup, but that would be the only lead the Lady Dawgs would hold in the second half. The Lady Bulldogs tied the game at 48-48 thanks to a Mason Jones three, but the Crimson Storm went on an 11-2 run to close out any attempt at an upset.

The lady Bulldogs shot 18-63 (29%) from the field, the fourth time this year they shot under 30%. They were 7-25 (28%) from the three-point line. SNU shot 23-56 (41%) and 8-19 (42%) from beyond the three-point line. SWOSU won the turnover battle 12-4.

Mason Jones led all scorers with 19 points, going 7-15 from the field and making two three-pointers. Layni Zinn (11) and Lanie Gooch (10) added double-figure scoring. Layni Zinn put in a team-high three three-pointers, while Gooch grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

With enough results around the league from the final day of the regular season now finalized, SWOSU has officially secured the No. 5 seed in the upcoming GAC Tournament. They will play four-seeded Southeastern Oklahoma State at noon on Friday, March 7 at Southside Arena in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
