RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU defensive back
Malcolm Murphy has been named the Great American Conference's final Defensive Player of the Week following his standout performance in week 11.
This marks SWOSU's second straight defensive weekly honor after
Shane Armstrong earned the award in week 10. The Bulldogs collected three defensive Player of the Week recognitions this season, with
Zack Roberts receiving the first after week three.
Murphy generated three takeaways and added three solo tackles in SWOSU's 45-3 win over Northwestern. He recorded two interceptions—including one in the end zone to deny a Ranger touchdown—and both forced and recovered a fumble. Each of his takeaways led to SWOSU scoring drives, directly contributing to the dominant road victory.
Murphy's two interceptions moved him into a tie for the team lead with three on the season.
