WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Volleyball shook off a slow start and stormed back to defeat Southeastern, 3-1, on Senior Night inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center on Tuesday.
Southeastern came out firing, posting 16 kills in the opening set to steal early momentum following the pre-match Senior Night ceremony. The opening frame featured 10 ties and six lead changes before SE closed on a 4-0 run to take the set, 25-21.
From there, it was all Bulldogs. SWOSU responded with a flawless second set, recording 20 kills without an error en route to a dominant 25-16 win. The Dawgs carried that rhythm through the rest of the match, committing just four total errors across the final two sets.
Set three remained close until a mid-frame surge saw SWOSU score 11 of 14 points to pull away. The Bulldogs repeated the formula in set four, using an 11-of-12 scoring stretch to build a commanding lead and close out the victory.
SWOSU hit .309 as a team — their sixth match this season at .300 or better — and posted .400-plus percentages in two of the four sets. Southeastern was limited to .136 hitting on the night. The Bulldogs committed just 11 attack errors compared to 21 for SE.
Paris Patterson led the offense with 20 kills and 17 digs, while
Hailey Smith added 16 kills.
Sydnee Winfrey joined them in double figures with 10 kills and four blocks.
On the backline,
Jada Permenter tallied a match-high 22 digs, and
Mackenzie Sims handed out a season-best 56 assists — setting a new program record for a four-set match.
The win moves SWOSU to 13-14 overall and 11-4 in GAC play. The Bulldogs will close out the regular season on Thursday with a road matchup against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
