ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – SWOSU Volleyball looked ready to seize control after evening the match at one set apiece, but a late push from Ouachita in the third swung the momentum the other way and carried the Tigers to a 3-1 home win Thursday night inside the Sturgis Physical Education Center.
The Bulldogs (6-11, 4-2 GAC) bounced back from a lopsided 25-14 opening set with a strong response in the second, then carried that energy into the third and led 23-22 before the Tigers closed with three straight points to steal the set. From there, Ouachita (16-3, 6-0 GAC) controlled both momentum and play in the fourth to close out the match and remain unbeaten in conference action.
Ouachita hit .240 on the night — the fourth-highest mark by a SWOSU opponent this season and the best clip against the Dawgs in GAC play. SWOSU finished at .193 overall, boosted by a dominant second set that featured 18 kills and just three errors.
Despite the team result, Jada Permenter — the reigning GAC Player of the Week — was a defensive standout once again, racking up 29 digs to set a new career high in a four-set match.
Offensively, Katja Blanchat (.476) and Paris Patterson (.286) paced the Bulldogs with 12 kills apiece. Blanchat's total marked both a new season high and her first double-digit kill outing of the year.
SWOSU will have a quick turnaround, returning to action Friday, October 10, against Henderson State across the street. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
