Dawgs Complete Sweep in Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, Ark. -- SWOSU Volleyball swept their way through Southern Arkansas on Friday afternoon to close out their final Arkansas road trip of the season in dominant fashion.

The Dawgs have now strung together three straight victories — all coming via sweep — and continued their recent dominance over the Muleriders, winning 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two programs.

SWOSU barely trailed all afternoon, falling behind only 1-0 in the second set and 2-1 in the third, as they controlled the match from start to finish. With the win, the Bulldogs finish 4-2 against Arkansas opponents in GAC play this season.

A quick start for the Bulldogs was exactly what they needed as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the opening set and never trailed, taking control early to secure the 1-0 advantage. SWOSU found themselves up by just three midway through the second set, but an 8-3 run broke it open and led to a comfortable 25-17 win. The third set followed a similar pattern — with the Dawgs holding a slim 12-10 lead before a 7-1 run put the match away — as they cruised to a straight-set sweep over Southern Arkansas.

Paris Patterson paced the Bulldog offense with 10 kills and zero errors for a blistering .400 hitting percentage, while Sydnee Winfrey added nine kills and two blocks. On the defensive end, Jenna Houk and Jada Permenter anchored the back row with 14 digs apiece.

As a team, the Dawgs hit .311 — their third-best mark of the season — while limiting Southern Arkansas to just .120. SWOSU also dominated at the net, outblocking the Muleriders 10-3 to remain atop the nation in total blocks this season.

SWOSU will be back in action October 30 when they travel down I-40 to face SNU in Bethany at 6PM.
