SWOSU Secures Shutout of SNU, Stays Unbeaten in GAC

Bethany, Okla. - SWOSU Soccer stayed unbeaten in conference play after grinding out a 1-0 defensive battle over Southern Nazarene on Saturday.

The Dawgs (9-2-2, 5-0-2 GAC) remain in control of their own destiny for the GAC regular season title, holding the advantage over second-place Ouachita Baptist (3-1-3 GAC) with five games left on the schedule.

The lone goal came in the 32nd minute, when Saoirse Hourigan finished off a corner kick play with her right foot. The strike snapped a four-match scoring drought for Hourigan, who leads the team with seven goals on the year. Philippine de Sancy provided the assist, her third of the season.

Defensively, the Bulldogs limited the Crimson Storm to just four shots on goal—the second-lowest total they've allowed this season—and only one of those came in the second half. Goalkeeper Lexi Johnson earned the Dawgs fourth shutout of the season, and second in a row, with four saves. In her two starts, Johnson has faced 12 shots and turned away every one of them.

On the attack, Hourigan led SWOSU with two shots on goal, while Elise LaForge, Braelee Epp, and Ruth Vasquez each added one.

The Bulldogs completed a season sweep of SNU, having edged them 2-1 on Sept. 24 to open GAC play.

SWOSU returns home on Wednesday to host East Central at 3:00 p.m. at the SWOSU Athletic Complex.
