Volleyball Taken Down by No. 15 Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball could not get any set momentum going in a 3-0 loss to No. 15-ranked Central Oklahoma on Thursday night on the opening night of the GAC/MIAA Crossover.

UCO, who remains undefeated at 10-0, was able to limit the Bulldogs to .112 hitting in the match, tying an offensive season low for SWOSU.

Meanwhile, the Bronchos hit .320 themselves. It's the second time this season a Bulldog opponent has hit .300 or better against the defense. Records of those two opponents? Currently 18-0.

The Bronchos committed just one error in the opening set and dispatched SWOSU without problems in a 25-11 victory. The Dawgs hung tough in the second until a UCO run in the middle part of the set provided the separation needed for a 25-20 win. The final set came down until the end. Tied 21-21 after the Bulldogs scored two in a row to knot things up, UCO avoided any chance of additional sets with a three-point spurt that proved to be the difference maker.

Lacy Mott (.261) led the team with 10 kills. Taryn Galt (.294) added six. Mott and Jada Permenter had eight digs. Terez Chavez and Cameron Turner each had 10 assists.

The non-conference schedule offers another stout test tomorrow with a pair of matches scheduled against (RV) Missouri Western, at 11:00 am, and Newman, at 5:30 pm. Both of those will be played in Bethany, Oklahoma on Southern Nazarene's home floor to close out the GAC/MIAA Crossover.
