SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball saw a pair of five-run innings produced by Oklahoma Baptist in Friday's series opener which proved to be the difference maker in a 10-2 defeat.
Those two big innings came in the second and third and after one third of the game, the Dawgs found themselves trailing by double digits. The tough two frames came after a first inning by Rece Parker that required just eight pitches to retire the side.
SWOSU answered with two runs in the top of the fourth. Ty Eastwood homered to lead it off, and Jackson Syring eventually came around to score after doubling right after.
Scoring went quiet from the middle of the fourth to the eighth until the Bulldogs got two more runs. Marco Barrera doubled and scored from a wild pitch before Geoff Marlow belted a solo home run down the left field line.
Five Bulldog arms saw action on the night. Parker lasted 2.1 innings inning giving way to the bullpen. Josh Rains, Jackson Blue, and Sawyer Rolland combined to throw a scoreless back half of the game in relief.
The bats had six hits in the game. Marlow had a two-hit night. 12 of OBU's 14 came in their two scoring innings.
