Softball Falls Twice to Cameron

WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Softball dropped both ends of Tuesday's non-conference doubleheader against Cameron by scores of 4-0 and 3-1.

The Bulldogs will get back to conference action over the weekend when Oklahoma Baptist comes to town. Game one is set for 3:30 pm on Friday before the doubleheader goes Saturday at noon.

Game One – Cameron 4, SWOSU 0

A four run second inning by the Aggies proved to be the difference maker. Cameron got four hits in the frame and plated all four of their runs from a pair of extra-base hits.

Aside from the explosive second, SWOSU pitcher Lauren Bratcher (L, 1-3) kept the Aggie offense at bay. She limited the visitors to just three other hits throughout the contest.

Offensively, SWOSU managed four hits in the game, none for extra bases. The Dawgs had two on base with no outs in the fourth after Taylor McMahon and Katie Boline singled to start the inning off but could not convert that into anything on the scoreboard.

Boline finished 1-for-2 with a walk. Bratcher threw into the seventh. She was relieved by Kaylee Barkley who got the final two outs of the game.

Game Two – Cameron 3, SWOSU 1

Cameron scored the game's first three runs before SWOSU finally got on the board in the sixth inning. The Aggies tacked on single runs in the first, second, and fourth. The Dawgs got back-to-back extra-base hits from Katie Boline and Dani Carmo to plate their first run in the sixth.

Boline (2-3) and Carmo (3-3) accounted for all five hits in the game. Cameron finished with seven.

Courtney Hill (L, 3-10) pitched into the sixth inning. She struck out seven, walked two, and allowed all seven hits. Blaire Gentry made a relief appearance to collect the final four outs of the game.

SWOSU put the game-tying run on first base with two outs in the final inning but could not come away with the timely hit to push any runs across.
