Baseball Wins Second Straight Conference Series

ADA, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball split with East Central on Sunday to close out the series, and in doing so secured a second straight conference series victory. The Bulldogs dropped the first game of the day 7-5 before winning the finale 6-2.

The Bulldogs host Harding next weekend in another GAC series.

Game One – ECU 7, SWOSU 5

A seven-run second inning by the Tigers proved to be the difference maker. They racked up nine hits and sent 13 to the plate. Grant Ewy gave five scoreless innings of relief to keep the Dawgs in it, but the offense stranded eight runners in the game and only managed one crooked scoring number – a two-run top of the second.

Five Bulldogs finished with two hits in the game. Zane Leonard was handed the loss on the mound after he did not make it out of the second inning flurry from the Tigers.

Game Two – SWOSU 6, ECU 2

SWOSU took the lead in the fifth and added three runs of insurance in the final inning to win the final game. Jackson Phillips threw 6.0 innings in his start to earn the win and Ernesto Hidrogo came in to finish things out in the last inning.

Marco Barrera went 3-5 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI. Jackson Syring doubled in a run in the fifth and had another sacrifice fly RBI in the seventh. Eric Foufoulas capped the day's scoring off in the seventh with a two-RBI single.
