WICHITA FALLS, Texas – SWOSU Softball allowed the go-ahead runs in the sixth inning and surrendered four unanswered in the final two frames in a 5-1 loss to Cameron on Friday to begin the Mustang Round Up.
The Bulldogs managed three hits in the game, one of which was a double from Skyla McPhillips who finished 1-3.
Cameron scored first in the opening frame and led 1-0 until the third when SWOSU knotted things up. McPhillips doubled to lead things off and was moved to third following a sacrifice bunt. Maddie Rahon stepped in with one out and singled her in for the tie.
Blaire Gentry pitched into the sixth inning with a 1-1 score until the Aggies finally regained the lead for good. A leadoff walk followed by a triple had CU back on top and an RBI groundout right after added to it.
Courtney Hill got the final out in the inning and remained in the circle in the seventh. Cameron added two more runs for insurance with a two-out home run in the final frame. It was their 10th, and final, hit of the game.
SWOSU moves to 2-3 on the year and will play two more tomorrow against Northwestern Missouri at 11am and Fort Hays State right after at 1:15pm.
