DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU fell behind early and could not recover in an 84-52 loss at Southeastern on Saturday afternoon.
The Savage Storm entered the day undefeated at home and that trend continued.
They shot 69% in the first half and knocked down eight three-point shots to build a 54-20 lead by halftime. That lead grew to as many as 42 points in the second half as SWOSU suffered its worst defeat of the conference season.
The Dawgs shot 29% in the first half and marginally increased that mark after halftime to 33%. Ben Smith led the offense with 20 points on 8-of-19 shooting. Mark Berry added 10 points. SWOSU was just 2-for-16 from three-point line in the game.
Despite the setback, SWOSU (8-10 GAC) splits the regular season series with Southeastern after beating them 75-74 back in December. The Dawgs are one of three teams to beat the Savage Storm in conference play this year.
Arkansas Tech (Thurs.) and Harding (Sat.) will visit Weatherford next week. Four games remain on the regular season schedule, with three of them set to be played at home.
