RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Bulldogs extended their winning streak to eight games, capping off the latter half of a back-to-back Arkansas road trip with a 3-0 sweep against Arkansas Tech on Saturday.
SWOSU jumped ahead in set one despite a match high eight errors. The success was sparked by Zoey Sparks' solo block and Samantha Kuzma's dominant performance, which included three blocks and kills. The Dawgs briefly trailed 1-0 but quickly regained control and did not trail the rest of the way.
The second set was a tightly contested back-and-forth affair, with the score deadlocked at 22-22. However, the Dawgs capitalized on a pair of Golden Suns attack errors and a timely ace from Terez Chavez to secure the set 25-23. SWOSU notched five aces, establishing a commanding lead heading into the final frame.
In set three, the Dawgs jumped out to leads of 10-5 and 19-12. Although the Golden Suns fought back to narrow the deficit to 23-22, SWOSU remained composed, securing the final set 25-23.
Lacy Mott paced the Dawgs with 16 kills, posting an impressive .500 hitting percentage. Samantha Kuzma added seven kills at a .385 clip.
Terez Chavez led the team with 15 assists, while Cameron Turner contributed 14. Jada Permenter anchored the balanced Dawgs defense with 12 digs as one of five players to record at least seven digs.
The Dawgs return to Weatherford for their next four games, starting with their final non-conference match of the year against Midwestern State on Tuesday, October 22nd, at 6:00 p.m. inside the Pioneer Event Center.
