EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball scored nine runs at Central Oklahoma on Tuesday but fell victim to a 10-run third inning by the Bronchos and went on to fall 13-9 in the midweek non-conference matchup.
Senior Weekend is next for the Bulldogs. They'll face Arkansas-Monticello on Friday and Saturday in the final home series of the season.
UCO (29-13) scored all 13 runs in the first three innings with a three-run opening frame and then the final 10-run knockout blow two innings later.
The Dawgs jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first at-bat and led again at 4-3 after scoring three more in the second inning. SWOSU then added runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth but not enough to make up the deficit.
Eight of UCO's 13 hits came in the third inning. SWOSU finished with 10 hits including home runs from Connor Jeffers and Geoff Marlow and a pair of doubles from Alec Worden.
After the rocky start on the mound, bullpen arms did not allow a run in the final five innings of play.
