CHICKASHA, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball captured its second win over USAO in Tuesday's midweek non-conference matchup, defeating the Drovers 11-3 to get back in the win column.
The Dawgs (15-15, 8-10 GAC) now sweep USAO in a home-and-home midweek miniseries after also defeating them 12-5 back on February 28 in Weatherford.
SWOSU scored in five of the nine innings they batted, putting up two runs in four of those frames and another three runs in the third in what was a wire-to-wire victory. After the Dawgs scored the first seven runs of the game, USAO finally got on the board in the fifth with a solo home run to finally answer.
Bryson Armstrong (W, 2-0) gave 5.0 strong innings to start things off on the mound. His only blemish was the solo shot home run in his final inning. Wyatt Sharry (1.0 IP), Philip Sanders (2.0), and Logan Lagasse (1.0) all pitched full innings in relief.
Meanwhile, at the plate, six of SWOSU's 10 hits went for extra bases. Geoff Marlow doubled twice and finished 2-4. Cade Hamilton, 1-5, tripled in the contest and Emilio Trevino, 1-4, hit his fourth home run of the season.
There will be a quick turnaround for the next game, as SWOSU will travel to Joplin to battle No. 7 Missouri Southern on Wednesday in more non-conference action. The game was originally supposed to be the season opener but was rescheduled due to weather.
