WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU women's basketball is heading into the final week of the 2023 regular season. They have two games during this week to close out the year. Their final road game will be on Thursday at 5:30 pm against East Central in Ada. Their final home game will be on Saturday at 1 pm versus Southern Nazarene.
Bulldog Outlook
- SWOSU comes into the final weekend at 8-17 and 8-12 in the GAC and sits at tied for seventh in the league with Southern Arkansas heading into the final games of the year.
- The Lady Dawgs have made the GAC Tournament in every season since the conference's inception.
- They went 1-1 over the last week, gaining a huge road win over Arkansas Tech 73-65.
- Morgan Smith shook off a little cold streak with a huge 24-point performance on 6-11 shooting from three.
- Shamica Smith also got back to her productive play. She posted a 19-point, 13 rebound double-double in the win against Arkansas Tech.
- SWOSU clamped down on defense their last time out, as they must do this week. They forced 21 Golden Sun turnovers, which is the ninth time this season they have forced 20 or more turnovers.
- Additionally, Averi Zinn and Morgan Smith acquired four steals a piece in the game, while Layni Zinn had three.
- Their three pointers attempted and three pointers made per game statistics both still rank high nationally, at eighth and tied for 17th in DII.
- The Bulldogs turnover margin is now 5.16, which is good for best in the GAC and 21st in DII.
A Look at East Central
East Central is on the outside looking in going into the final two games. They are at 10-14 and 7-13 in GAC play. This record has them tied with Northwestern Oklahoma State for ninth. They will need to win out and get some help to make the conference tournament. The Lady Bulldogs are hoping to get a season sweep of the Tigers, after beating them on December 10, 86-71. This was SWOSU first win of the year. In the all time series, SWOSU leads 35-21. They are 8-2 in their last 10 against ECU, including an active four-game winning streak.

A Look at Southern Nazarene
The Crimson Storm are in a completely opposite position relative to the Lady Bulldogs. They are 22-4 and 19-1 in the GAC. They have clinched either the one or two seed in the conference tournament. SNU could possibly rest players in this game on Saturday if they have nothing more to play for. Southern Nazarene beat SWOSU the first matchup this year, 76-66 in Bethany. SWOSU leads 19-6 all time and average 80.3 points per game historically against the Crimson Storm.
