Lady Bulldogs Prepare for Final Arkansas Trip

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU women's basketball team's season is winding down. This weekend they will make their last road trip across state lines to Arkansas. They go head to head with Harding on Thursday at 5:30 pm. Then, they will travel to Russellville to take on the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
 
Bulldog Outlook
 
  • SWOSU enters this weekend at 7-16 and 7-11 in GAC play.
  • They are currently tied for seventh with Southern Arkansas and East Central.
  • They have played three games in the past seven days, going 1-2 over that stretch.
  • Averi Zinn had her 11-game streak of scoring double digit points snapped against Henderson State, but came back against Ouachita on Saturday and scored 19 points to lead SWOSU to a win.
  • Shamica Smith had a big game a week ago against Henderson State, grabbing a career high 15 rebounds and scored 10 points to complete the double-double.
  • Macy Gore has been in the pocket of ball handlers of as late. She has averaged 2.5 steals over the past four games.
  • Hitting the glass needs to be a bigger objective for the team. They were outrebounded by 31 in the last three games.
  • Three-point shooting continues to be the emphasis on offense. SWOSU ranks second in the GAC and seventh in DII in three point attempts a game at 27.6 per game.
 
A Look at Harding
Harding is 19-6 overall and 15-3 in the GAC. This puts them firmly at second in the conference and have already clinched a spot in the GAC Tournament. SWOSU is 18-14 all time versus the Lady Bisons. They dropped their first matchup of the season 69-47 to Harding in Weatherford on January 28. The last Lady Dawg win in Searcy was in the 2018-2019 season.

A Look at Arkansas Tech
ATU is currently at 13-9 and 11-7 in the GAC. They are sitting at third in the conference and have also claimed a spot in the GAC Tournament. They have lost the last two games they played. The Golden Suns won in Weatherford on January 26, 79-72, in a closely contested game. ATU is up in the all-time series 19-15, but SWOSU has claimed eight of the last 10 games. Their leader Jalei Oglesby is currently the GAC leading scorer, averaging exactly 20 points per game. She had a season high 31 points against the Lady Bulldogs in the last matchup.
