ALVA, Okla. – SWOSU Football had the 2023 season end in a 41-0 loss to Northwestern on Saturday evening.
The Bulldogs finished 1-of-15 on third downs and 0-of-3 on fourth down in the shutout loss. It's the third time this season SWOSU was held without points.
Trailing 7-0 in the first quarter, Diondre Scott came away with an interception in the end zone to deter a Ranger score. It was SWOSU's lone turnover of the game.
Northwestern led 13-0 at halftime and used a 21-point third quarter to pull away.
SWOSU threw four interceptions, three in the second half including a pick-six, and totaled just 176 yards on offense. Meanwhile, the Rangers narrowly missed throwing for a season high with 315 yards through the air. They added 159 yards on the ground for 474 yards of total offense.
Bodie Boydstun and Sean Shelby combined for 19-of-37 passing at quarterback for 145 yards. Both were responsible for two interceptions. Ethane Hyche ran nine times for 52 yards. Taylor Tosches hauled in five passes for 47 yards.
