SWOSU Gets Ready For Two Game Home Stand

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU women's basketball team will host two teams this weekend for Great American Conference games. Arkansas Tech comes into town on Thursday night for a 5:30 pm contest. League leading Harding will roll into Weatherford on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 pm tipoff.

Bulldog Outlook

  • SWOSU is currently 6-10 overall and 6-5 in GAC play entering the last two games of four in a row in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
  • They are on a three-game winning streak after defeating Oklahoma Baptist on the road last Thursday then came home and took down Southeastern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State back to back.
  • SWOSU sits at T-5 in the GAC with Henderson State.
  • Shamica Smith is performing well after a slow start to the season. She has had two double-doubles in her last three games. After grabbing 10-plus rebounds in those three games, she is sixth in the GAC in rebounding.
  • Averi Zinn is coming off a great individual week as well. She scored 21 points in the last two games marking the first time in her career that she had back to back 20-point performances.
  • Macy Gore enters this weekend at fourth in the conference in assists per game. She has been a consistent distributor this season, having three or more assists in 14 out of 16 games.
  • The turnover battle will be crucial for the next two contests. The Bulldogs have won the turnover battle in 15 of 16 games this year.
  • Three-point shooting is a staple of this offense as SWOSU ranks tenth in Division II in three points attempts per game with 27.3 per game.
  • The three-point shot is also starting to fall more often for the Lady Dawgs. They have shot over 30% from three in the last five of their last six games, including shooting 45% from beyond the arc in their last one against Northwestern.
