WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU women's basketball team has one home game and one road game scheduled for this week. They will start by going to Shawnee and taking on Oklahoma Baptist at 5:30 pm on Thursday. On Saturday, they have to wake up extra early for an 11:00 am tip-off against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Bulldog Outlook
- The Lady Dawgs dropped both games last week. Ouachita outlasted them 82-67 and Henderson defeated 85-65.
- These losses take them to 3-10 overall and 3-5 in GAC play.
- Their scoring stayed solid at 66.3 points per game.
- Their scoring defense is now at 73.8 points per game though.
- SWOSU currently sits at third in the GAC in three pointers made with 99.
- They have been quite aggressive on the offensive end, setting new season highs for free throws made in every single game since the semester started.
- They took a season high 27 free throws against Henderson State.
- Rebounding needs to be a bigger emphasis. They were outrebounded by 29 and 19 in last week's games.
- Henderson State's 85 points are the most the Lady Dawgs have given up this year.
- Layni Zinn had possibly her most productive week in a SWOSU uniform last week. She totaled 26 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals in the two games.
- Morgan Smith will look to have a bounce back week, as she shot 7-26 from the field and scored only 22 points in both games.
- Macy Gore ranks fourth in assists per game and assist/turnover ratio in the GAC heading into the game against Oklahoma Baptist.
A Look at Oklahoma Baptist
- Oklahoma Baptist is at 10-4 and 6-2 in GAC play.
- They are tied for second in the GAC standings with Arkansas Tech.
- They started the season on a six-game winning streak in GAC play before dropping their last two games against Harding and Arkansas Tech last week.
- OBU bested the Lady Bulldogs in their first matchup this season, 72-52 in Weatherford on December 1.
- They are scoring 66.1 points per game, right behind SWOSU in that category.
- They are giving up 62.4 points per game to opponents.
- While they don't shoot the three as much as other GAC teams, they are efficient when doing so. Their 34% from three as a team ranks third in the GAC.
- They knock down their foul shots, holding a GAC best 82% from the free throw line.
- A disciplined team, their opponents' hold the lowest amount of free throw makes and attempts in the GAC.
- OBU has a top five scorer in the GAC with Erika Ankney. She is averaging 16.9 points per game and her 2.1 steals per game ranks her sixth in the GAC in that category. She holds that top five scoring position even after she was scoreless against Arkansas Tech in her last game.
- Madison Chambers is averaging 13.5 points per game on 52% and 42% shooting splits.
- Jill Leslie is their rim protector. She averages 1.6 blocks per game, good for third in the GAC.
A Look at Southeastern
- Southeastern is currently 4-9 and 2-6 in the GAC.
- They have had a 1-5 record since last meeting with SWOSU.
- They took down the Lady Dawgs in their previous game this season, 62-53 in Durant on December 3.
- Their last two matchups have been common opponents of SWOSU: Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas.
- They dropped both of those games by double digits, while SWOSU defeated both earlier in the season.
- They are averaging a GAC worst 59.3 points per game as a team this year.
- They allow 64.9 points per game on the defensive end.
- The SWOSU offense should operate fairly well, as the Savage Storm force the lowest number of turnovers in the GAC at 13.8 a game.
- Briley Moon is their leader and one of the best scorers in the league. She is averaging 17.7 points, fourth in the GAC, and 6.9 rebounds per game on 45/41/86 shooting splits. Her three-point and free throw percentages are both top five in the GAC as well.
- Caitlin Kobiske is their other double-digit scorer, coming in at 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
