SWOSU Softball Drops Game Three vs ATU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Softball fell to Arkansas Tech 7-1 at home on Friday in the final game of the conference series. Despite leading 1-0 early, the offense was unable to score any more runs on the afternoon and managed just two hits against Tech's ace pitcher.

ATU took the lead in the second inning with a pair of runs, extended the lead in the third with one more, and dealt the final blow in the seventh with four runs on three hits and three walks.

SWOSU's run in the first inning came after an Arkansas Tech blunder. With two outs, Dani Carmo hit a ground ball back to the pitcher who sailed her throw past the first basemen which allowed Maddie Rahon to score from third base.

Rahon singled and scored in the first inning and finished 1-2 on the day. She was one of two hits SWOSU would collect in the game, the other being a Jewell Lee single in the sixth.

The Golden Suns pitcher threw a complete game and struck out eight SWOSU batters.

Kaylee Barkley had success in relief of Alisa Friesen. After Tech scored two in the second, Barkley entered and pitched 6.0 innings and held the opposition to three runs the rest of the way. Brianna Cryer made a short appearance in the seventh, but Barkley reentered the circle to close the game out.

The Dawgs will travel on their last road trip next week to Harding, before returning to Weatherford the following week to host Arkansas Monticello in the final regular season series.
