WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Bulldogs play host to East Central on Saturday, in what is the only action of the entire week. SWOSU will be looking for the first win of the conference season against the Tigers.
Following Saturday's contest, the Dawgs will play just one more game in the month of December before breaking for Christmas.
Bulldog Notes
- What a difference a week makes. Last week SWOSU was riding high following an undefeated showing right before Thanksgiving at the Drury Classic and a strong start to the 2022-23 season, only to be humbled with a pair of conference losses on the opening week of GAC play
- SWOSU (4-4) returns to Weatherford for their sixth home game through the season's first nine games. They hold a 2-3 record inside the PCEC so far in 2022
- In four wins this year, the Dawgs have held opponents to 66.0 points per game. In four losses, the Dawgs have allowed 93.5 points per game
- In two losses last week, SWOSU allowed a then season-high 91 points to Oklahoma Baptist and 112 to Southeastern two days later
- The defense continued its trend of forcing turnovers last week though. They forced 32 total, but also committed 32 themselves including a season high 22 against OBU
- Despite a down week to start conference, SWOSU's +4.88 turnover margin still ranks them second in the GAC behind only Arkansas Tech (5.00)
- SWOSU's 40.3% offensive field goal percentage as a team ranks them 12th, last, around the league
- Kamden Gipson averages 14.6 points and 3.9 assists per game, which ranks 10th and eighth respectively. He continues to be SWOSU's most consistent player. Gipson narrowly missed a double-double against OBU when he finished with 10 points and nine assists
- The Dawgs have a pair of GAC category leaders. DeAngelo Adkins is averaging 2.0 blocked shots per game while Nate Goodlow sits at 2.6 steals per game. Both sit atop conference rankings.
- Ben Smith has gotten to the free throw line a team best 36 times this season, making 23 of those. His FT percentage is nearly identical to the teams. He sits at 63.9%, compared to SWOSU's 64.2%.
- Jamaal Smith scored a career high 13 points against Southeastern last Saturday
