Volleyball Decisive Winners at Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Volleyball extended its win streak to five following a decisive 3-0 victory at Arkansas Tech on Thursday.

The win was also SWOSU's fourth consecutive 3-0 victory. The Dawgs have not dropped a set since the Northwestern match, marking 14 set victories in a row for the Bulldog Blue.

The Bulldogs move to 6-2 in GAC action and 10-8 overall on the year.

Decisive is a fitting word to apply to Thursday's match. The Bulldogs led wire-to-wire and doubled the Golden Sun point total in each of the first two sets, winning them both 25-12. ATU was held to a negative hitting percentage in both sets.

In the third set, Tech kept things closer until the 16-16 mark when SWOSU finally pulled away for good with eight unanswered points to get to match point. Two points from the home team delayed the inevitable, before the Dawgs finally got the point they needed to end it.

The Golden Suns managed to hit .100 in the final frame, but still finished at -.008 for the match.

Maicee Morgan finished with eight kills (.364) to lead the offense. Lacy Mott (.103) also had eight. Lauren DeSantiago posted 15 digs at libero. Terez Chavez edged Cameron Turner this match at setter with 16 assists while also adding 10 digs for a double-double.

The stage is now set for tomorrow with two teams on a win streak to faceoff. SWOSU will battle (RV) Harding at 4pm in Searcy, Arkansas. The Lady Bisons are a GAC best 8-0 and 19-1 overall on the season, having won their last 17 contests. The Bulldogs are 3-2 against HU dating back to 2018.
