Volleyball Rolls to Second Straight Sweep Against HSU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU volleyball was on the court for the second day in a row on Friday. They obtained another 3-0 sweep, this time versus Henderson State.

SWOSU extends its streak of consecutive home sweeps to five with the win. The sweep vaults the Dawgs to 8-3 in the GAC on the year, 12-10 overall.

The first two sets were dominant. Winning margins of 25-12 and 25-14 are what coach Josh Collins dreams about. To put it more into perspective, there were only three lead changes in the entire game.

HSU was held to a .084 hitting percentage for the match, their best hitting set coming in the second, with a .189. SWOSU hit .372 and .364 in the first two sets respectively.

The Bulldog attack was led by Zoey Sparks, coming in at 13 kills, followed by Lacy Mott and Carmen Kinsey with nine apiece. The Dawgs brick wall on defense was also Sparks, adding one solo block and five assisted blocks to her team leading hitting night. Libero Lauren DeSantiago acquired 18 digs in the match. Setter Terez Chavez had 25 assists for the game as well.

Volleyball's next match will be a crucial game against number two Oklahoma Baptist in the PCEC on October 20. SWOSU will look to avenge their 3-1 loss to the Bison earlier in the year.
