Soccer Senior Day Ends in A Draw

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – It was SWOSU soccer's senior day out at the Athletic Complex today as they took on the Ouachita Baptist Tigers. The game would end in a 0-0 tie.

SWOSU came into the match sitting in second place in the conference with Ouachita lurking right behind them in third. The outcome of the game did not change either of those things.

Both teams had an abundance of opportunities today. Both team's offenses played well. The goalies in the box performed better. The Dawgs and Tigers would combine for 39 shots and 21 shots on goal throughout 90 minutes of play, as well as eight corner kicks. These chances did not turn into any points though.

Alimata Rabo was firing shots left and right, she just could not find the back of the net. She accumulated seven shots and three shots on goal. She had a potential breakaway play when the OBU defender behind her grabbed the back of her jersey, prompting the referee to stop the game and issue a yellow card. Brianna Benitez, Desiree Rodriguez, and Emmy Wagner all tallied three shots. All three of Benitez's shots were on goal. Ashley Hughes is playing lights out since conference play started, having 21 saves and zero goals allowed through four GAC games.

SWOSU stays at second in the GAC as previously mentioned and goes to 2-4-4 on the season and 2-0-2 in the GAC. Their next contest will be a crucial matchup between first place Oklahoma Baptist on October 6 in Weatherford at 4:00 PM.
