Bulldogs Honor Seniors on First Day Against Harding

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU Softball team honored their four senior members – Bella Garcia, Keanni Barron, Miranda Grover & Jessica Carmo – in between their two games against Harding on Saturday, which resulted in a sweep by the Lady Bisons.

SWOSU (9-22, 9-17 GAC) and Harding will return to the Athletic Complex on Sunday at noon for the series finale.

Game 1: Harding 8, SWOSU 4
The first game had highlights for the Bulldogs, who got home runs from Hannah Franklin and Keanni Barron, who also started a triple play to end the bottom of the fifth inning after Harding got two runners on with no outs. SWOSU had just five hits in the game while Harding had 15 and scored in four of the seven innings with two runs in the third and four in the fourth.

Barron went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and had seven putouts defensively in the game while Breanna Simmons also had two hits, going 2-for-3 with 1 RBI.

Miranda Grover (5-12) pitched a complete game and took the loss after allowing seven earned runs.

Game 2: Harding 9, SWOSU 2
Barron continued her strong day at the plate with a two-run single in the fourth inning, giving SWOSU their first lead of the day at 2-1. The advantage was short-lived, however, with Harding scoring five runs in the top of the fifth and eight combined over the final three innings to complete the doubleheader sweep.

SWOSU again struggled at the dish and came away with four hits, including two from Jordan Collins who went 2-for-2 with a run scored in a relief appearance.

Alisa Friesen (2-5) started and took the loss after allowing six runs – five earned – on 11 hits over the first 4.2 innings.
