Lady Bulldogs Bounced in GAC Semifinals

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southern Nazarene shot 56.1% from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers as they came into the Pioneer Cellular Event Center and eliminated the #16-ranked SWOSU Lady Bulldogs from the Great American Conference Tournament by a score of 88-74.

SNU shot 50% or better in each of the first three quarters, including a scoring 70.6% (12-17) in the third quarter as they outscored the Lady Bulldogs 27-16 to really take control of the game, breaking it open after leading by four at halftime. SWOSU outscored the Crimson Storm by one point in the fourth quarter, but never threatened as SNU held a double-digit lead for the entire quarter.

The bright spot for SWOSU on Friday night was the bench contributions from Regan Crawford, who led the Lady Dawgs with a career-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, which included knocking down three three-point field goals. She was joined in double figures by Makyra Tramble, who filled the stat sheet with 17 points, seven steals, six rebounds, three assists and one blocked shot, Bethany Franks with 13 points and Macy Gore with 11.

SWOSU connected on just 24-of-67 (35.8%) field goal attempts and knocked down 8-of-25 (32.0%) three-pointers, but they did connect at a 90% clip from the free throw line, putting in 18-of-20 shots from the stripe.

"We did not play very well tonight at all," SWOSU Head Coach Kelsi Musick said following the game. "A lot of the credit goes to SNU, they came in ready to play and shot it phenomenally. I thought our defense was very poor, we weren't able to create turnovers and that, plus our unforced errors, made the difference in the game."

The loss is the third of the year for the Lady Bulldogs, who are now 17-3 on the season and ranked second in the most recent NCAA Division II South Central Regional Rankings. SWOSU will now wait until Sunday evening to learn their NCAA Tournament postseason fate, with the selection show to be streamed at 9:00 pm on NCAA.com.
